Big Chair
From the new album by Travis, “The Boy With No Name”. Free lyrics included.
I saw Travis at a sweet little theater called Spreckels a few years back, they invited everyone onstage to dance. Really. We all went. It was a hoot.

Here’s That Rainy Day
From the Johnny Carson Tribute on Letterman shortly after he passed away. There will never be another Johnny, but at least there’s still Letterman for those insomnia-tainted late nights. A beautiful and touching tribute…

Gonzo Gate and the Department of “Just Us”
Here’s some notable snippits from the Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearing on “Oversight of the U.S. Department of Justice”, during which, by the way, it has been determined that our U.S. Attorney General PURGERED himself; he’ll respond (presumably) to those allegations this week.
First, Senator Feinstein questions Gonzalez, then scroll down for clips and commentary courtesy of Keith, including Senator Arlen Spector (R-PA), making no attemp to hide his contempt for one of his own. Gives me faith in the theory of bipartisanship.

Gonzo Gate update
Although the full video isn’t available just yet (I’ll post it when it is), the Atty. Gen. Alberto Gonzales returned to the Senate Judiciary Committee today in response to a letter from Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy requesting more information on the U.S. Attorney firings, Mr. Bush’s warrantless wiretap program, a very suspicious visit to John Ashcroft (under sedation in the hospital), and many other issues. His ”I can’t recall”s from April were replaced with a number of “I’ve been accused”. Even members of his own party questioned his credibility. Click here for a Gonzo Gate reading and video history that led up to today’s hearing. More soon…

Bring on the Brass
“Don’t mess with a military man”.
Thank you, Major General John R.S. Baptiste, for bringing your brass to back up the beliefs of so very many.

Once
If you’ve not yet seen it, you should. Once is a totally charming film; a deconstructed musical about the friendship and collaboration between a ‘Guy’ and a ‘Girl’. The music is wrenchingly beautiful, the story is short and sweet. This performance of Falling Slowly isn’t from the movie (it was filmed on a beautiful snowy morning at Sundance), but the song is. Still gets me a little misty…

Serious Humor #2
There are funnier ones out there (he winked at the Queen, for heaven’s sake!), but I gotta admit, the butt slap is right up there. For this category we could have a Top 100!
