2000 light years from home
This is from the CD Altered States, comprised of covers reinvented by longtime producer Robin Danar who aptly describes the work (his first as ‘artist’) as “Sonic re-imaginings for the soundtrack of a dream….” With the support of an impressive array of artists, this is quite a compilation. I’m particularly fond of the following featuring Rachel Yamagata, “Weirdo” featuring Gary Jules, “Yell” featuring Jesca Hoop and “Use Me” featuring Pete Yorn and Kinky - give them a listen too…
Thanks for checking in… Hope you enjoy, and wherever you are, how near or how far, may there be 2000 years of light in your life.

change
Here’s a song that’s been on my list to share for awhile. Now there’s a jukebox and I can. This is Luka Bloom singing about new beginnings and rising up to grow. Enjoy your day and the moments of change it may contain.
P.S. Back in sorts, thanks for checking :)
the trees were mistaken
It’s been a busy week. I missed my usual Sunday posting and on a full moon no less… Now it’s Earth Day and I was having a hard time slowing down enough to come up with something to say. I started feeling sorta guilty for not being more promotive of all things earthy. This is Green Tee, after all. Then I started thinking, why today? Isn’t every day Earth Day, really? And if we aren’t thinking that way, shouldn’t we be? No excuses, just thoughts. I guess the guilt is more about not being more productive; I owe you some new stuff; designs, causes and other stuff too and this too shall come - in its own due course evidently. And yes, Earth definitely does deserve it’s own special day, too.
So I’d been wondering what song might suit today’s occasion and today’s mood, which may be considered somewhat out of sorts. Maybe its the pace previously mentioned… anyway nothing was striking me. Then late this afternoon I heard this song and it I knew it was what I was looking for. The title clinched it, especially when I got home and realized that not only were the trees mistaken, but so were the people of Pennsylvania. I’ll give her one thing; Hil’s got grit… alright I’ll give her more than that but she’s not my candidate (currently) and I’m tired of the negative campaigning and her “experience” including the Beirut sniper and other fish tales. Come to think of it I’m over the campaigning and politics and pundits altogether. See? Totally out of sorts.
So without further ado, do have a happy. Do something for our Earth today, tomorrow and the next day. Leave places and people and things better than you found them. Envision the change you want - and as Gandhi so powerfully conveyed: be the change you wish to see.
Andrew Bird’s story about mistaken trees… a Bird oughta know:
waterfall
Here’s something very new by a band that’s not been heard from in awhile, James. They’re back after something like seven years, with a triumphant return and a matured sound (in a good, warm, wine-like way…) in the form of their new CD Hey Ma.
I hope you enjoy. Do have a cool, clear and cleansing day.
One of my favorite songs from way back when happens to be by James. May as well share that one too. Sometimes… you’ve just gotta do what you’ve just got to do:
hold on to yourself
They say that if ya’ ain’t got someone to hold on to, better do this - I’m thinking it’s a good idea either way… by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds… check out the wild ouija board footage. Peace out, love in, and hold on too…
how the day sounds

San Diego musician/producer Greg Laswell’s latest offering is a beautiful (from content to cover) new CD “How the Day Sounds“. The link provided is not to his official website (he has only a MySpace page as far as I can tell) but to an article about how he’s taken to using his MacBook to produce his music with the help of a program called GarageBand (I guess it’s more of a Sony testimonial but it’s still interesting).
I hope you enjoy and I hope you have a beautiful week, from sounds to experiences and everything in-between.
satellite radio
Here’s a good one to turn your weekend on to, by Steve Earle.
Hope you enjoy and hope you have a swingin’ one.
miracle drug
The following, as promised, is a post by my web developer. He’s very good and good to me, and for all his troubles and time of late, all he asked for was a posting of his own. So, without further ado…
Allan Carl Newman is great!
He doesn’t talk much, that Coach. So now it’s me again and as it turns out Allan Carl Newman was previously posted here (on February 28, 2008) as the frontman for the New Pornographers.
Many thanks for your help, Coach!
And to the rest of you - thanks for visiting, and have a miraculous day…
get mad
I’m very excited and oh so grateful to my developer* for working with me to create this handy little jukebox, enabling me to post the newer, sometimes more obscure and often harder to find music that hasn’t yet made it’s way to the radio or You Tube yet. Oh there’ll be many, many more videos posted on this site, but sometimes a new artist or song just needs to be heard (and let’s be straight, sometimes the videos just suck). With that I am so pleased to have the ability to share this song by Kyle Andrews, from his recent release Find Love, Let Go (love that). I really like this one, hope you enjoy it too.
Since we’re getting back to basics here’s a link to shop while you listen. That is, after all, what Green Tee is all about: the CAUSES. The store is the next upgrade so thanks much for your patience and visits - and don’t get mad (unless it’s at Bush & Co.) and don’t even get even (unless you’re really mad) - but by all means do get yourself a tee! And do keep visiting… there’s fresh stuff in the works.
Get Mad:
*Be sure to tune in tomorrow for a special guest post by Coach!
all right
Here’s something by the multi-talented Jim Noir from his new CD. He’s one of those over-achieving, do-it-yourself, one-man-band types; writes all the songs, plays all the instruments, does all the arranging, singing and production. He does it all right. This video is a quite the trip, wooden marionette men with corrugated cardboard space masks rescuing tin women robot extraterrestrials… some will really go all out for the One.
If Senior Noir sounds a bit familiar, it may be from some of his previous releases… here’s a fun one from days gone by (can’t beat a frolic by the sea) : Eanie Meany
The Patch (better not step on his)
