chemtrails and time bombs

Here’s one by the ever-diverse Beck from his yet to be released Modern Guilt. From what I’ve heard of it so far, he’s created yet another reinvention of himself - and kept it fresh as always. Hope you like it, and may all your trails be happy and chem-free.

Now an interpretation of Time Bomb, created by Chris Jordan and blessed by the Beckster. Jordan’s work is a fine example of the social statement-making artistry that I admire so and aspire to achieve someday. Click on his link above and have a look at his latest work.

We are on a ticker here, and we all have got to do our part to conserve, sustain, reuse, reduce, recycle, make peace, love and take care of one another and the planet - and everything else that’s within our power to do. Every one of us. Let’s give the children an opportunity to grow up and have their children on a clean, healthy, peaceful planet.

here i am

Here’s something for a midweek pondering of life if you’re up for it. By the band called ciam, a song called ‘Here I Am’.

Thier self-description:
CIAM ain’t no ordinary band. It’s pronounced SEE AM and is also the acronym belonging belonging to the Congress Internationaux d’Architecture Moderne, a body set up between 1928 and 1956 to redesign, restructure and rebuild the modern Europe.
You bet. Talk about remake, remodel- CIAM don’t see boundaries between music, math, art, film, science, design, creationism, Darwinism; if it sounds good, looks good, feels good- then forget about the politics, it’s in.

I especially appreciate artists who can and choose to make a social, political or otherwise significant statement with their art, in whatever form it may take. And I really like it when they say stuff… well, that I agree with. Say what they will about “forgetting politics”, here’s ‘The Call’ by Ciam, with no boundaries. Have a peaceful day.

i’m voting republican

So I’m thinking that if this post heading, coming from this writer, hasn’t captured your attention yet, then certainly this inspired short by Synthetic Human Pictures should. Don’t hesitate to pass this one around… and do have a beautiful day.

By the way, I look forward to changing this category from “mortification” to “restoration” soon. Let’s make it happen.

Since we’re at it, this one’s called How To Speak Republican, by Swift Warning Films.

black and gold

Here’s a weekend starter by Sam Sparro. I think Black & Gold might be a symbol of fortuity somewhere out there. Anyway, hope you enjoy a luck-filled Friday.

the world the people together (come on)

Another pleasant resurfacing of an old favorite - eight years after 13 Tales From Urban Bohemia (but only 3 since their last), the Dandy Warhols return with their forthcoming release “Earth to Dandy Warhols”. Allow this to serve as testament that, like Iggy and old wine, we may well get better and wiser, maybe even healthier, more inspired, energized and enlightened with age… something to store above the ears and ponder awhile.

Enjoy together… come on…

And from 13 Tales, here’s one called Cool Scene.

cusack takes mccain

From MoveOn.org, an ad featuring John Cusack and a challenge to take the Bush-McCain Challenge. Now that there’s one Dem candidate (phew!), the focus can be on the one vital task at hand… the win!

You may also be interested in catching not one but two of Cusack’s most recent films, both dealing with the war in Iraq; Grace is Gone, and War Inc.

P.S. let me know if you’d like to wear Obama on your bumper. I have a few hundred stickers to distribute, or you can always order some yourself at MoveOn.org, and in doing so contribute to his campaign.

Here’s another one, full of hope with some fun scrambled in from MoveOn.

he’s frank

Actually he’s the unmistakable, irreverent, inimitable Igster: Iggy Pop that is, featured in this lovely weekend-starter by Brighton Port Authority, formerly known as Fatboy Slim, also known as Norman Cook. As an aside, Iggy Pop, also known as James Newell Osterberg, Jr. turned 61 years young this year. Rock and roll can never die and in this his case it doesn’t fade away, either. Enjoy and have a great weekend…

There’s a lot of historical Iggy out there. Here’s some more:

A scene from Jim Jarmusch’s “Coffee & Cigarettes”, if you haven’t seen it it’s worth a rent if only (but not really) for the chock-full-o-rock-stars cast. This scene is shared with co-legend Tom Waits:

I believe his notoriety began with his Lust for Life.

Okay, last one. This time a duet with Kate Pearson of the B-52’s. Can’t forget Candy:
