The Thriller is gone.

Well nothing like a couple of icons passing away on the same day to get me off my non-blogging bumm.

Farrah’s battle with cancer was long and strong, but she has succumbed.

Michael Jackson’s battle always seemed to be with himself, from his questionable upbringing into his adulthood, he seemed to succumb to a slower downward spiral. He was an undeniably extraordinary talent starting from his early childhood, perhaps a curse of sorts. MJ’s former publicist: “…Michael has been on an impossibly difficult and often self-destructive journey for years. His talent was unquestionable but so too was his discomfort with the norms of the world.  A human simply can not withstand this level of prolonged stress.”

May they both rest in peace. Hopefully now as easy as 1-2-3.

Live large and have a shot of pop for the King.

obama song

Oh happy day.  It’s been a very long and winding 8 year road, but finally it has led us to Barack Obama’s door and this great day.

Here’s the always outspoken and outrageously hot Michael Franti with Spearhead. Dance, celebrate and enjoy this very special moment in American history.

God bless our new President, God bless you, and God bless our planet. Peace.

his dream

Almost 46 years after Martin Luther King, Jr. made this speech, we’ll witness another black man fill the streets in Washington tomorrow. This time, for the celebration of change, equality, unity and hope. I believe that Dr. King will be smiling upon us from the promised land with pride that his country has finally caught up with his dream.

The end of his last speech, delivered in support of striking sanitation workers in Memphis, TN on April 3, 1968, the day before he was assassinated.

Finally, Spiritual High by Moodswings featuring Chrissie Hynde… feels right today.

full moon fever

Believe it or not, I have a stockpile of music saved specifically for the occasion of the full moon, but I’m posting remotely so sharing a song from said stockpile isn’t possible. However, it is worthy of sharing, in case you weren’t aware (I’m a lunar-watcher and had no idea) that tonight is the largest full moon of the year. And they mean BIG. The biggest. Enjoy, howl loud and often, and watch out for the other guy. Peace.

Read the big sky show story here.

Okay, here’s something for you to listen to, too. A little live Neil fits the bill just beautifully.

How could I not…

feeling good

Actually, I’m sick as a dog, but in spite of it all I feel good. Tears of joy, relief, pride and hope were shed aplenty last night at the confirmation of our new President-elect, and at hearing Mr. Obama speak in Chicago’s Grant Park; a memorable speech, and a timely and historical day in American history. Thank God.

It’s a new dawn and a new day. Feel good and enjoy, and peace be with you.

War is Over

Since this week begins on the eve of Christmas Eve I thought this song appropriate. It’s prefaced by a few interview clips with John Lennon, sharing his thoughts on peace and love and world leaders, etc. He may not have had different questions (what ARE we trying to do?) or much different to say today… No violence, no violent minds or households, no starving children, no frustration, no fear. Amen.

My thoughts go out to our soldiers in Iraq at this time of year when they and their families must miss each other so. When they are moving targets as we shop at Target and brave merely the mall and its crowded parking lots and walkways, some people have real problems. Godspeed to them. I’m grateful for the comfort I’m able to live in, from my personal freedom to going to a movie, to dinner, to my warm cozy bed with a roof over my head. We live in what could easily be considered obscene abundance by some as compared to so many.  We are blessed. Be joyous and be well, and enjoy a safe and peaceful holiday week.

life is beautiful

The last time I was in a hospital was in January, saying goodbye to a good friend. Yesterday I was in a hospital greeting a new one, my sweet niece Ula. She came into the world, opened her eyes, and immediately started drinking it all in; the most alert little thing, looking all around, and I swear she was smiling… Welcome to the world, beautiful girl!
P.S. Your mama is a rock star!

Greetings!

A warm welcome to Green Tee’s blog, another part of the plan to keep you informed, inspired, entertained and engaged. I’ll make every effort to fill your cup on a regular basis with what and who’s currently being watched, read, listened to, heckled, indicted and impeached.
