move you
Home town girl does good… great, really. Well, it’s not really her home town, but Anya Marina has lulled me to sleep on many a night with one of the more luscious radio shows on San Diego record, Big Sonic Chill. In addition to a past life as a dj, she’s also an actress, but I’ll leave her bio to Wikipedia. I came to bring you the music and tonight you get a 2-for-1 special, 3 if you count the video included in this Rolling Stone review.
This song makes me wanna move around. I dig it.
Here’s Vertigo
Hope you enjoy the tunes and the day. Peace.
obama song
Oh happy day. It’s been a very long and winding 8 year road, but finally it has led us to Barack Obama’s door and this great day.
Here’s the always outspoken and outrageously hot Michael Franti with Spearhead. Dance, celebrate and enjoy this very special moment in American history.
God bless our new President, God bless you, and God bless our planet. Peace.
his dream
Almost 46 years after Martin Luther King, Jr. made this speech, we’ll witness another black man fill the streets in Washington tomorrow. This time, for the celebration of change, equality, unity and hope. I believe that Dr. King will be smiling upon us from the promised land with pride that his country has finally caught up with his dream.
The end of his last speech, delivered in support of striking sanitation workers in Memphis, TN on April 3, 1968, the day before he was assassinated.
Finally, Spiritual High by Moodswings featuring Chrissie Hynde… feels right today.
stormy monday
Although best known for his classic Emmy and Oscar winning “Shaft”, here’s Stormy Monday, on the Monday of Isaac Hayes‘ death. This begins a brief tribute to one of the greats of his time, may he sail soulfully into fair winds and following seas, and rest in peace.
Can’t celebrate Isaac Hayes without some Shaft. Live life large, and do tune in tomorrow. Peace.
