Posting for the first time in a looong time, motivated by the heartwrenching events and subsequent conditions in Haiti. I, as many, have donated dollars - and that does help. But I wish so that there was something more I could do to physically help. To go there and help uncover the people that potentially still breathe, if weakly, under the rubble. To help the injured. To do something.

Alas, at this time it is not feasible for me. So I will post this soothing yet sad song with the hope that giving up will be the absolute hardest thing to do for every suffering Haitian, in spite of the ease with whcih one could make that choice in the face of all they’re faced with.

Well nothing like a couple of icons passing away on the same day to get me off my non-blogging bumm.

Farrah’s battle with cancer was long and strong, but she has succumbed.

Michael Jackson’s battle always seemed to be with himself, from his questionable upbringing into his adulthood, he seemed to succumb to a slower downward spiral. He was an undeniably extraordinary talent starting from his early childhood, perhaps a curse of sorts. MJ’s former publicist: “…Michael has been on an impossibly difficult and often self-destructive journey for years. His talent was unquestionable but so too was his discomfort with the norms of the world. A human simply can not withstand this level of prolonged stress.”

May they both rest in peace. Hopefully now as easy as 1-2-3.

moving day

Nothing posted in a long time for lots of reasons (one being that the website went all wonky - but it’s unwonked now (thanks Coach)). Lots of music and new stuff in the queue but for now a simple ‘hello’ will have to do. It’s moving day (moving week, actually) and I have lots of boxes to pack and belongings to purge. More soon. Home town girl does good… great, really. Well, it’s not really her home town, but Anya Marina has lulled me to sleep on many a night with one of the more luscious radio shows on San Diego record, Big Sonic Chill. In addition to a past life as a dj, she’s also an actress, but I’ll leave her bio to Wikipedia. Almost 46 years after Martin Luther King, Jr. made this speech, we’ll witness another black man fill the streets in Washington tomorrow. This time, for the celebration of change, equality, unity and hope. I believe that Dr. King will be smiling upon us from the promised land with pride that his country has finally caught up with his dream.
