As promised/warned a coupla weeks ago, I have some new Glen Campbell to share with you… that’s right - the Rhinestone Cowboy has a new CD, Meet Glen Campbell, in release as of today, and (I surprise myself as much as he surprises me) I like it (okay, I like two of the songs). Amazing how the voice has remained intact, and the taste seems to have improved as he reintroduces himself to the world. Yes, it’s a CD full of covers… but the guy is 72 years old and he’s still workin’ it, give him a break! Here’s one originally performed by the Scottish band and one of my favorites, Travis, called Sing. The other standout (and the only other track I’ve heard in its entirety) is Jackson Browne’s These Days - always a heartbreaker, and speaking of which there’s a Petty song on it, too. Hope you enjoy. Either way you’ve gotta hand it to Glen for pullin’ it all together agin. Cheers to the Wichita Lineman.
