support our troops

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
From “For the Fallen”, by Laurence Binyon

We support our troops, which is to say that we want them to come home. To heal. To reunite. To honor. To serve and protect their homeland, a once proud nation more vulnerable now than ever before.Tuesdays Reunion

Most of the grounds of our oppostition to the war in Iraq have already been clearly conveyed in writing by those who’ve served, and have now banded together to fight. For this we again extend our thanks to the steadfast soldiers who have bravely taken part in this injudicious war, and now just as bravely speak out against it. Please read the “Why’s” of the Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW.org).

The Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust is dedicated to one, single purpose: building better lives for our nations disabled veterans and their families. To carry out this responsibility, the DAVCST supports physical and psychological rehabilitation programs, meets the special needs of veterans with specific disabilities such as amputation and blindness, and aids and shelters homeless veterans. In addition, the Trust is a grant maker, expending $12.7 million in service to disabled veterans and their dependants since 1988.

If you select the “Support Our Troops” option upon checkout, 10% of the proceeds from your purchase will be sent to The Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust. Click here to view the DAVCST’s Charity Navigator Report Card.

The Ground Truth

The Long Road to War
How we ended up there: A special PBS “Frontline”, originally broadcast just prior to the US invasion of Iraq, this film chronicles 12 years of in-depth reporting on the history of America’s relationship with Saddam Hussein leading up to the attack, examining topics including how the West armed Iraq, the origins of the first Gulf war and its ragged end, how Saddam survived efforts to undermine his power, and the long standing effort by Washington hawks to remove him.

Courage to Pursue the Truth:
Jessica Lynch and the Family of Pat Tillman

On April 24, 2007, the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform held a hearing on the “Accuracy of Battlefield Information” focusing on misleading information following the death of Army Ranger Specialist Patrick Tillman in Afghanistan and the capture and rescue of Army Private Jessica Lynch in Iraq.
In speaking out in respect and support of our troops, we’re dismayed yet compelled to reference this hearing during which testimony by former Army Private Jessica Lynch, Mary and Kevin Tillman, mother and brother of Army Ranger Specialist Patrick Tillman, and other comrades and officials was heard with regard to the deliberate, self serving deceptions of the Administration’s accounts of Private Lynch’s rescue and Corporal Tillman’s death.
